The primary purpose of cabin air filter is to help clean the air that enters into your vehicle through the ventilation system, keeping the air inside your vehicle clean and fresh.
Location of this cabin filter: Passenger side behind the glove box. Tools: Standard screwdriver + Phillips head screwdriver.
When you change your filter (maybe variant for your model. Please see the owner’s manual or find a local mechanic for exact instructions for the particular model):
- With the glove box closed locate and remove the 2 plastic pins at the bottom of the glove box securing the glove box frame to the dash panel. Remove these pins by sliding them out.
- Open the glove box. Remove the dampener cord by sliding it down and pushing it through from the inside. Allow the dampener cord to retract.
- Remove the glove box by sliding it to the left and out of the frame. Set the glove box aside.
- Remove the 4 screws securing the top of the glove box frame.
- Gently remove the glove box frame by grasping it and pulling it loose.
- Look in the center of the void created by removing the glove box frame and you will see a metal clip. Use a standard screwdriver to pry this metal clip loose. Once the clip is removed, grasp the filter at the bottom and remove by pulling it straight out. Remove the second filter by grabbing it and pulling it down and then straight out.
- Remove the dirty filters and install your new cabin air filter by followed the original filters’ direction.
- Install remove parts by reversing the removal procedure and it’s done.
